THE JOURNEY OF A LOGO

The surprisingly unlimited applications a good logo can possibly have, is always fun to see!

Scholastica (my school) holds part of my heart, and it was truly an exciting feeling when back in 2022, a group of seniors approached me to help them create a club for the alumni.

A physical place where graduates can relax, converse, connect and feel at home around known faces. Just like being back at school again.

The first task was to make a logo. Now, I’m not a graphic designer, nor was it ever my best skill. Also a brief was never given. But these things didn’t really matter because somehow all of us knew what to make of it.

It had to resemble the school's logo and colors in a much 'grown-up' way, as if the symbol actually graduated and matured with the times like we did. And of course, be everything a timeless logo is expected to be: easy to recognise, simple to use, and relevant across decades.

It didn’t need too much to be honest. A few touches here and there, and the simple SC Club logo was born.

Concept

How the logo came to be.

And that’s where the journey started. Eventually this simple Ai / EPS file became a symbol of everything we stood for at the club for the past 3 years.

Here’s a few messy snapshots of how it was used over time, in no particular order, and collected across multiple sources.

The Journey So Far:

Taglines

Words and greetings used at different times.

Clothes

Fabric applications.

Activations

At events, tournaments, celebrations and workshops.

Social Media

Posts and wishes.

Web

Home page and other tabs.

Prints

Profiles, magazines, business cards and much more.

Gifts

Boxes, cups, cards, mugs, pens...you name it! Even cake.

Signage

Physical clubhouse interior and exterior.

This is about 25% of the total creations made. And yet, it feels strange to know the journey has just begun. What always baffles me is how far and wide a single creation can actually go!

But I guess that is where the pride and happiness of our work comes from. Will continue to watch its journey as a big fan.
